:D

See?

Ok, so it's not ACTUALLY the Mana Tree but it looks very similar. :) I just got back from Disneyworld - this is actually the Tree Of Life at Disneyworld's Animal Kingdom park. But I'm pretending it's the Mana Tree.

Is that a real living tree or a prop?

Oh, it's definitely a prop. And it's HUGE. GIIIIANT. :) Giant as in there's an entire cinema inside it.

I saw a travel channel special about that part of the Disney park, and I thought that it looked kinda like the Mana tree from a distance too. XD

But when you get up close to it it's got all kinds of animals carved into the bark and stuff, it's really neat. Probably the most realistic looking fake tree ever.

Have a good time at Disneyland Destiny? :D

Yeah! The animal carvings were pretty amazing actually :] The idea of it was that they were souls of animals that got caught by the tree and held there forever, or something. I can't remember exactly but it was creepy and awesome!

And thanks, Sheexy, I had an AMAZING time and I reeeeeeeeally want to be back there. Home is so dull in comparison!

There is giant Poplar Tree where I live. I'll have to take a picture and share it.

It looks like a Baobob. I think that's what the Tree of Life is supposed to be.

@Deadwolf: What kind of Poplar Tree is it? I've never heard of any Poplar trees getting really big but I do know that Tuliptrees(which are often called Poplars) are the talles growing broad-leaved tree in the whole eastern half of North America. But if you don't live in the eastern part then I guess it's not.

And yes, I am a tree person.

Yeah in the program they said it's supposed to be a Baobab.
Baobabs are probably the most awesome tree ever. :D

I try to be a tree person, I walk all the time and I try to learn how to recognize all the different types of trees I see. I'm pretty good at it, but when I try to throw tree-like shrubs into the mixture I just can't keep up.

@Sheexy: If you haven't used them yet, I recommend Peterson's Field Guides. If you're like me and have 100+ acres of forest to walk through, you'll become very good at it. And also things to look at when identifying: bark, tree form and size, leaves, buds, and the area they're growing in.

@Deadwolf: Oh I just remembered that Cottonwoods can get pretty big and they grow fast. They're a type of Poplar.

That's a really neat picture, but I think the Mana Tree is taller. . . .
