Motion control would be kind of inevitable, unless you could play with the classic controller or something.

I'd want a battle system similar to the one in Seiken Densetsu 3, only faster-paced. Your characters moved around so slowly in battle, you could pretty much forget about trying to avoid physical attacks. This could probably be resolved if you could dash after drawing your weapon.

yeah hated that. うはwwwwww jumping in this conversation out of the blue. The one thing that Ishii had no trouble with was the storylines. I mean that is what keeps you playing a game is it not.

Features I would like to see would be items such as:

Combo System. Previously said. (Children of mana did ok with that, but maybe more complex)

Keep the RPG level up system. There recent games got rid of it which is one reason I had trouble playing them.

pretty much everything previously said.

What I'm seeing here is that everyone wants a Devil May Cry with Seiken Densetsu 3 characters and RPG elements for the Wii.

Oh, I don't want that exactly. I want it to move around in an overhead perspective as opposed to 3D. I've never played a DMC game, but I don't want the combo system to be complex, but there needs to be something to be given to the gameplay to create the feeling of progression. Dawn of Mana lacked that, Children of Mana somewhat had it but fell flat about half way through. Secret of Mana did have it, but the levels kinda became useless. They were just for show. And I want the game to focus on multiplayer.

Actually the combo system for me, I was thinking more of Dante's Inferno then Devil May Cry. I would like to see new characters too. I mean Seiken Densetsu 3's characters were the best, but I want to stay true to Ishii's storyline. I mean new characters seem like it would be better.

BTW, I would not be surprised if for it's 20th anniversery, The Seiken Densetsu series made a remake of SD3 for DS. I mean in the earlier posts you see what happened as far as SD2 on the phone and how it was compared to Chrono Trigger. The arguement there was that Chrono Trigger was not much a series. Now, if we compared the SD series to Final Fantasy. FF3 was released in america, and look what happened. You had the crazed fanatics buying the game. And it must have sold well, otherwise why would they remake ff4? SquareEnix best bet would be to remake SD3 to be released in AMERICA! I Would Buy it.

I'm still waiting on a DS remake of FF5.

Everyone is saying that SD3 should be redone for the DS (which I would love) but I'm thinking a console download remake (like Bionic Commando Rearmed). Having it on WiiWare/PSN/Live Arcade would make it available to more people (and cheaper). It would be a good business move and help boost the franchise.

I'd love a console download remake, personally. If they did a remake for the DS, that would be fine, but... I just prefer console gaming over handheld gaming.

I'd love a DS remake of FF5 as well. I've always enjoyed that game, and Red Mage Galuf reminds me of Juan Ramirez from Highlander.

And I kinda like that idea of a Wiiware remake. I just don't think Square Enix wants to put the effort into a franchise that had a whole project completely flop. I just really hope we don't get stuck into mobile phone purgatory.

Several things:
1) FF:CC did steal the rug right out from under SD as being the FF ARPG series that went off and did its own thing. Both franchises were conceived as the Action RPG interpretation of Final Fantasy. However, no one liked the newest FFCC game for the Wii. No one. And there were no new FFCC games announced at E3 . . . so I'm not so sure that franchise will be around much longer.

2) Just because it is being released on a mobile phone platform does not mean that Secret of Mana will stay there. Final Fantasy IV: The After was originally for Japanese mobile phones but was later released as a Wiiware game. The new retro-styled game Final Fantasy Legends: Warriors of Light and Dark is being released in Japan on cell phones, but will most likely make its way to Wiiware since I suspect FFIV: The After did well. Hopefully they release the potential for Secret of Mana to make the same move. Also, if the Secret of Mana remake does well on Wiiware, I think they would seriously consider doing SD3 there.

Really behind on this topic... and going offtopic actually, XD but did anyone else feel like Dawn of Mana would have been perfect for the Wii?

The slingshot would have worked awesome with the Wiimote as an aimer, whipping around baddies could have been much more fun if it were motion controlled (still kinda gimmicky, but it just didn't feel natural using a button and joystick to do that stuff in game).

Anyway, I just always felt like it needed different controls when I played through it.

I would certainly love to see a port to the Wii making use of Wii MotionPlus ala The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Imagine being able to swing the sword in real 1:1! And slingshot aiming would be so much better! The whip would be a lot of fun, too!

The only think I can't figure out is the jumping. This would obviously be done with the nunchuck, but it would still be as awkward as ever even with Wii controls. One of the many reasons I wasn't perfectly pleased with DoM was that it was trying too hard to be too many different genres. We never needed to jump before in a Mana game (well, Sword, I guess, but that was so extremely limited) that it seemed strange to add it to DoM simply because it was in a three dimensional space.

3D . . .

That literally just triggered a thought connected to jumping: the Nintendo 3DS! If DoM were released on THAT, those awkward jumps would be a bazillion times easier!

Hey...I actually loved that game.... :*
But I agree with you in that FF:CC certainly seemed to draw the focus away from SD. It really saddened me at the time because I had hated all things "Final Fantasy" (This was before I learned where SD came from and also learned to be more objective ;) ) But, I almost bought a GameCube for it...almost... (OT: was desperate for a console ARPG as I skipped on the generations following the SNES)

In any case, the franchise seems to be languishing - such a shame

*raises hand* ^_^

As I mentioned earlier, I'd love - prefer - a new Mana game. Although, a remake of SD3 would be cool too. However, I get the feeling if it does happen, it'll release on platform I don't own :P

Someone else might have mentioned this already, but it's late and I don't feel like rereading the entire thread.

The original Crystal Chronicles, if I remember correctly, had a first boss that was mysteriously similar to the Fullmetal Haggar in appearance, which was fought in front of a waterfall (found in the Cave of Waterfalls in SD3, and at the beach in LoM). I saw it and immediately recognized it as a ripoff monster. It wouldn't be the first time something from the Mana series showed up in another Square series - something like the Mana Beast showed up in some other game they made that I forgot the name of, developed around the same time as LoM, and Chocobos and Moogles didn't even originate in Mana.

The metal-looking floating Eyes in SoM also appeared in FF9 as a tool that Zidane could use.

But I do think that they could do a new Mana game and if they didn't screw it up that'd be great.

^The Mana beast enemy was in SaGa Frontier.

But as you mentioned, FF9 borrows some stuff from Mana, although I wouldn't know. The last FF game I played was FF3 on the Super Nintendo.
