Sound bytes from SoM ?

Post by invisibleham »

Hey gang, sorry to bother, but I'm curious if anyone has all the sound effects from Secret of Mana, or know where to find those, or even how I could possibly get them myself?

Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong forum =(

Thanks everyone

I've got a bunch of them zipped up from a couple of years ago when someone wanted them. I haven't got ALL the sound effects though.

Let me see if I can find them.

The sounds are cut rather close to the end, so adding an extra second of silence for better reproduction by most audio programs may be recommended. If you open them in a sound editor they complete fine.

If you need any others, let me know and I can see what I can accomplish.

Wow, thank you so much!!!

Was toying with the idea of doing small animated bits of my versions of the characters and monsters, if time affords me. I thought using the original sound effects would be rad.

Would you happen to have the 'splash' sound that you hear when you defeat certain enemies? I hear the 'skeleton' one...

Yeah, no probs. Depending on the sound and whatnot it's more or less difficult to get it. I take them from live gameplay as opposed to any other kind of extraction method, since half of them are composite sound effects, and/or too small to extract any other way.

If you want the music instrument samples, I'm working on those now, might have something tonight.

Actually I've found that someone else has already made a soundfont using sounds from Secret of Mana, so I'll just link you to that, the individual sound ripping is proving more difficult than I expected.

No sense in redoing work that has already been done. ;)

Either the program you are using to make the music will support it, or your soundcard itself. With a Creative card I had previously I could sub out all my midi instruments with ones from sf2, or for an entire sf2 with the instruments nominated to particular channels, meaning that any midi played would have those applied to it rather than the default midi sounds. A step up from WinGroove.

You can get VST plugins that'll use sf2 files for their samples, so you can integrate it into Cubase or whatever it is you are using. If you're using a tracker, then might have to extract the individual sound files for you.

Oh man... I'm so not cool, I'm not using midi or anything, I'm using a 10 year old loop based program called ACID.

HAHAH!

The wav files you put up will work fine

Thank you so much !!!!

I can't wait to see what you've got planned for these. :D

I wonder if we should put sound packs on the site for the games Kass.

I think you guys should for sure.

Do any of you compose? I really want to (need to) learn how to get my set up going. All I know is I need a special kind of audio card, a midi keyboard and some sort of composing software that doesnt confuse me.
