A new planet has been discovered! It seems to be just like earth. yay!
I was walking back home from work to home yesterday and was thinking about this.

Now my question is:

1) What would you name the planet after?
2) If you could be the president of this planet, would you make any structure in life, industry on this planet?
3) Would you choose for only environement friendly products (electric cars, only paper pags, no gasoline, etc..etc..) on this planet, since our own earth is being devistated by ourselves with our machines, oil, nuclear waste, etc... ???

tell me.....

Hold off on naming. There may be intelligent life on that planet, and they may not take kindly to some puny earth man naming THEIR world.

Humans shall take any planet they wish! Mwa,ha,ha. Ahem! I mean, nice find Kyatto. This looks interesting, I too wonder what it's name will be and what the surface of this planet is composed of (besides rock and liquid water as mentioned?

I heard about this this morning... how interesting -- people are always looking for another earth. Our poor planet... =(

What would really be something if this planet turned out to have life but not in the way we'd expect. And I don't mean like the aliens of Star Trek or Babylon 5 or some such. I can't think of any meaningful examples right now, but it would raise some eyebrows if that were the case...

As to Kyatto's questions:

1) I'd name it after either who (which group) discovered it or which constellation it falls in
2) Assuming the planet is a possible water world... hmm, I don't know how much industry could take place if any. But no, I wouldn't.

3) If it's a terrestrial planet I'd kept in eco friendly ^_^

Although I don't know how much fun it would be to see a red sun rise... :]

I'd name it Fa'Diel.
I'd have a treehouse in a giant tree that I would govern everything from.

I'd totally terraform the planet and bio-engineer all of the inhabitants to my liking. It'd pretty much just be inhabited by Seiken Densetsu stuff :D

XD i agree with Sheexy as well!

I heard about this, this morning on my way to school, dude it would be so cool if there really were aliens on that planet!

But i dont see travel to it any time soon, because its in another solar system, 20.5light years away, or something like that.

The seikens planet would be a nice extention of this fourm. Hahaha, can you imagine if that planet was for the seikens members? I would go rabite hunting!

Wouldn't work if Duran got there first. He'd eat us up as we landed.

Wow!

Assuming there is no "intelligent" life on the planet, I would name it after something life-giving such as "Earth" is to our planet. "Gaia," or something--no, not "'s Navel!" I would make sure that the first people to visit the planet are a collection of scientists and archaeologists. People who are trying to make as little impact as they can. Then, the first development would be designed to be best for the ecosystem of the planet. A small grass hut. Perhaps that is where I can live under the shelter of Sheexy's tree and tree-house.

'Twill be grand,

Hahaha... Gaia's Navel.... hahaha....

I did not even think of a Seikens World. Now that would be a good idea!

and btw, "intelligent lifeforms" ??? We would not even recognize it, since we are thinking about "intelligent lifeforms" in the shape of animals of human-a-like things......

We'll find a way to control Duran at the seikens planet. We'll make rules like for the fourm:

No killing, no swearing, no spiting, no inlegal stuff, no eating other members (this means you Duran!) and rabite hunting is only permitted on Fridays (we need to let them re-populate themselfs). Knowing Duran, he'll eat the entire population of rabites in a couple of minutes. Web master... er, planet master Dekky and Sheexy will take care of the other details.

Heh, frankly, I'd want to work out the problems we have with two things before even *thinking* about this planet.

>> First, work out all our environmental problems.
>> Then, find a way to get us to and from this new planet without overly-lengthy space missions...

Industry? 'Ell no! This place stays green! x(

EDIT: Come to think of it... compared to our sun, how long would a Red Dwarf last, anyway? ???

I'd be interested to know how old this planet and its sun are... too bad that takes extremely skilled Cosmologists and Archaeologists to determine... -__
... if it's even still there anymore... who knows? =*)

As for the faintness of the star... minus the planet's orbit, I would think that the dark side of the planet would get pretty cold... especially because of its size?

Whoa, J, what planet have you been living on lately? :P
It's gotta be lightyears away or something.

And I've gotta agree with J about the problem getting over there and stuff.
I mean, how the heck are we gonna do that?

We haven't even gotten people on Mars yet...
