anyone watches Dragonball Kai ?

source: http://dbzepisode.org/dragonball-kai/

Currently we are at episode 66.
It is a remastered version of the original DragonBall Z, but now in 720 HD ! That means that you don't have to wait for a whole episode for a character to powerup for a battle.. (AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! WAAAAAAAAAAAH).

Dragonball Kai episode 66 is about the Android Saga, where the team has just been beaten by #17.
Dragonball Z episode 66 is about the Ginyu Force, where Goku just arrived after Gohan, Vegeta and Krillin have been beaten by Recoome on the planet Namek.
Now that's wwhat i call a difference... :-D

In some respects, yes, since it doesnt drag out as much. However, when they condensed the series, they got rid of a number of scenes, last I recall.

okay. episode 97 was the last one on which the world has been restored.

*********** SPOILERS **************

no buu saga, it ends at the Cell Saga. Goku is dead and the world thinks that Mr. Satan has beaten Cell.

Hmm...I wonder why they skipped the Buu saga?

Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragonball, never wanted to go past the Cell Saga at all. The people who are doing Kai more than likely agreed with his standpoint and kept it out.

Never liked the Buu saga, myself.

I think that the Buu saga still had some nice episodes, but indeed it was a bit too much.

.... Thank god they didn't redo Dragonball GT, that didn't add anything at all to the series. ^_^

I agree, there were a few Buu episodes I liked. Mostly with Vegeta.

I kinda liked the overall Buu saga, but I have to agree that it DID drag quite a bit.

And they'll never redo GT since Toriyama was only peripherally involved.

Is there any reason I should start watching the Kai series?
I have watched the original before, not sure that I want to go through the hell again :P

I watched it again (and I watched the original Z multiple times, it was rerun that often in Spain), I think it was worth it. Quite a bit of the fat has been trimmed. Sadly the soundtrack has been redone, and although the new soundtrack is good, I dunno, the original still plays in my mind. Though the theme for the Ginyu Tokusentai is hilarious.

The other disappointment is that the art didn't get cleaned up more. I thought they were going to bring the animation up to the quality of the opening, pretty much, but maybe in the long run that would take away from the appeal.
