LoM: The Teardrop Crystal – Ep. 12 Director’s Cut Update

January 31st, 2023 | Dr. Sheexy | Filed under Legend of Mana, The Teardrop Crystal

January came and went without much information posted about the director’s cut for the final episode of the anime, and I realized later that they had removed the note that it would air in January.

The official website was recently updated to include some more information about this (but not much).

Essentially, a new COVID-19 outbreak got in the way of both the completion of the original episode 12 and the director’s cut of episode 12.

The director’s cut is scheduled to be completed in early February now.

More information is forthcoming about where it will be distributed.

Mana Merch Sightings- Jan 2023

January 18th, 2023 | Dr. Sheexy | Filed under Legend of Mana, Merchandise, The Teardrop Crystal

I’m going to make various merchandise sighting updates when I can, but only when I think things are fairly interesting (Like the SoM and LoM SuperGroupies merch drops). Today I’ve got a handful here that I think are really cool. If you really want to, though, you can dig deep for all sorts of knick-knacky Legend of Mana: The Teardrop Crystal merch. There are little tins (with marshmallows), keychains, acrylic stands, keychains, acrylic stands, some keychains, and even more acrylic stands if you’re interested in them. For me they are a bit too many and a bit too uninteresting for me to go after all of them, but if you’ve got a favorite character they’ve probably got something out there.

The first items I want to point out are a Rabite Plush (currently out) and a Flammie Plush (not yet released) that are found in Taito UFO machines in Japan. These are pretty great. The Rabites look quite good, better than the 2018 big plush version if you ask me. It’s also really cool to see a Flammie plush. You’ll have to pick these up on eBay (expensive) or through Japanese auction sites (a bit cheaper) if you want them.

The second items are in the realm of strange Legend of Mana merch. I don’t know who decided there need to be necklaces for Bud and Lisa’s weapons, but hey here they are. They’re produced by Goodsmile and you can look into preordering them in Japan here. Now you too can hold onto the memories of Bud and Lisa’s parents, but I can’t say I’d recommend these as Mother or Father’s Day gifts.

LoM: The Teardrop Crystal – Episode 12 Director’s Cut

December 24th, 2022 | Dr. Sheexy | Filed under The Teardrop Crystal

The final episode of the anime has aired, and you may have noticed some things were a bit off.
The beginning of the episode was completely recycled from the last one, some scenes seemed to start and end suddenly, and there were a lot of close-ups on faces.

Well it seems that the episode had to be aired before everything was finished, because a “Director’s Cut” version of episode 12 will be aired at a later date.
More details to come on distribution in January 2023, according to the official site’s news section.

I’m going to eventually put together my thoughts on the series as a whole, and each of the episodes, but now that I know the Director’s Cut is coming I’m going to hold off for the time being.

LoM: The Teardrop Crystal – Glossary

December 21st, 2022 | Dr. Sheexy | Filed under The Teardrop Crystal

Over in the The Teardrop Crystal section of the site you can now find a Glossary page.

All of the glossary entries were translated by me, and come from the official Twitter account for the anime. These tend to be posted a little while after each episode. Only Episode 09 seems to have no glossary entries associated with it. The final glossary entries should be coming up shortly after the airing of the finale of the series this Friday.

The entries seem to be mostly written for viewers of the anime who are unfamiliar with the original game, but seasoned veterans of the series may find some interesting tidbits in them.

I may go back and add some images to this page later on, as the Twitter posts each had a screenshot associated with them, but I’m on vacation for the holiday and don’t have a good way to add them in at the moment.

LoM: The Teardrop Crystal – Online Exhibition part 2

December 16th, 2022 | Dr. Sheexy | Filed under The Teardrop Crystal

Over at the main site for the anime, you can find a second online exhibition link.

This one is titled “cave” whereas the last one was “house” and took place in the MC’s house. so naturally this one takes place in the Mekiv Caverns.

You can walk down the entrance of the cavern, checking out some scenery settings and some character art, and eventually you end up in a big room with a life sized Du’Cate.
I tried crawling around in the edges of the cave to look for secrets, but got bored and decided to update the episodes page instead.
Let me know if you find anything!

LoM: The Teardrop Crystal – Super Groupies Merch

November 28th, 2022 | Dr. Sheexy | Filed under Legend of Mana, Merchandise, The Teardrop Crystal

Back at it again, Super Groupies has some more limited time Mana Merch on the way. This time, there are nine items spread across three characters for Legend of Mana: The Teardrop Crystal. The deadline to order is December 19th. Edit: As of December 7th, they are sold out.

Shiloh

Shiloh’s gear has a brown, light blue, and red accented theme going to it, reminiscent of his character design. The watch in particular is the big winner here, though I’m not sure why it only has nine artifacts on it. They’re all the lands related to Jumi Quests of course (and Madora for some reason? the anime I guess), but I feel it’s an odd choice regardless. The interior of the bag and wallet have a very cute design going on, I’d love a set of sheets made from it. Also, fans of the Jumi arc will notice a certain phrase on it, “Tadaima” or “I’m back”, that is sure to pull at your heart strings. Final note, the Li’l cactus charm on the bag and wallet is great.

Elazul

Elazul’s gear goes for black and dark blue, with just tiny highlights of green and red on it. I feel they missed the mark here a bit, I would not associate black with his character design. The watch does look rather striking, with that little hat thing on it, but the bag and the wallet really don’t say Elazul to me. The interior patterns are just a handful of shattered gems, none even in his color. The wallet shows off the core and green color a bit more, while the bag keeps the core tucked away hidden and has a darker version of the green on the sides.

Pearl

Pearl’s gear is almost completely black and white with a slight tinge of nacre, or mother-of-pearl. The watch has the pattern from the bottom of her dress on it, but is otherwise very plain. The bag and wallet have the same design across them, but now in plain white rather than nacre. The bag in particular has a big boxy feel, which doesn’t match Pearl’s character to me. The interior of the bags are ocean themed, showing off Blackpearl’s conch hammer and some pearls and shells, which is cute but very understated. Finally, a her white pearl core appears on the both the bag and wallet.

I gotta say, I feel Pearl got the short end of the stick here, but overall these are lacking compared to the Super Groupies Secret of Mana Merch I posted about last month.
What do you think?

LoM: The Teardrop Crystal GoodSmile Figures Revealed

November 26th, 2022 | Dr. Sheexy | Filed under Legend of Mana, Merchandise, The Teardrop Crystal

At GoodSmile‘s new product exhibition gallery “WonHobby Gallery 2022 AUTUMN” two Legend of Mana Nendoroids were revealed.
They provided an image of a Painted Shiloh and a Prototype Serafina.

They look pretty nice! I hope we get more characters as well, and also maybe some more proportional figures/statues later on.

EDIT: Turns out they’re one step ahead of me. Here are some Pop Up Parade statues that were posted on Twitter.
