Chrono Trigger for DS – Hope for Mana?

July 2nd, 2008 | Kassidy Kearey | Filed under Square-Enix

KassidyNick just pointed out a rumour/announcement of Chrono Trigger being re-released for the Nintendo DS, and it looks like it may well be true! They have a Countdown Site up.

While this is not Mana news, at least it shows some hope of old loved games being given a new life (that AREN’T Final Fantasy… not saying that they shouldn’t do FF, but just share the love a bit…).

Thanks again to Nick for bringing this to our attention!

Square-Enix’s E3 Line-Up

June 23rd, 2008 | Kassidy Kearey | Filed under Square-Enix

KassidyBegs the questions as to why there was ever a point even hoping for anything different.
No Mana, no surprise.

Still, at least there’s some Dragon Quest in there, Duran. Other than that, predictable as ever. Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. I found it funny that on one site they were moaning that those two and Mana were the only series getting any attention. Which yes, we’ve had a few Mana titles recently, but were they worth it?

Please note that this list was obtained from a third-party fan site, NOT from official Square sources directly, so it is plausible that this list is inaccurate or does not represent the final line-up (or could even be a load of rabite fodder), so take with a pinch of salt.

  • Final Fantasy VII Advent Children 2 (Bluray) – Confirmed
  • Final Fantasy XIII (PS3) – Confirmed
  • Final Fantasy XIII Versus (PS3) – Confirmed

E3 Approaches

June 16th, 2008 | Kassidy Kearey | Filed under Square-Enix

The E3 expo approaches (1 month to go), and Square have confirmed attendance. So far they have not announced their line-up for this year, but let’s face it, there is no point even holding out hope for anything Mana related to be on the agenda. No doubt there will be at least a dozen Final Fantasy titles, and maybe the occasional other tidbit. But, should, by strange twist of fate, a Mana title be announced, you’ll hear it from us faster than you can say antidisestablishmentarianism.

SD3DS! We gotta hold of the game!

April 1st, 2008 | Kassidy Kearey | Filed under Seiken Densetsu 3, Square-Enix

Connections are a wonderful thing. So the rumours were true, a preview of SD3 for the DS has been leaked, and thanks to certain contacts I now has my hands on it. And I’ve taken the liberty of filming some of it for you guys.

You’ll notice that the soundtrack has been reworked, and although I think it may not be a final version, it’s sounding pretty good. I’m looking forward to working my way through what other tracks I can find on here, so with some luck next Mana Music Monday will have some SD3DS (hey, that’s a palindrome!) goodness to boot!

More videos with some more gameplay to come soon. Sorry for the bad camera work, but you know what it’s like trying to record stuff off the DS.

Not-Mana Music Monday

August 6th, 2007 | Kassidy Kearey | Filed under Music, Square-Enix

Well I went to the doctor and he “Ooh, eeh, ooh ah ah, ting tang walla walla bing bang”, then gave me some tablets that… well, the only way to describe the taste is that if I were ever to find out what rotten mushboom tasted like (and I hope I never do), this would be exactly the same. Needless to say, I can now at least close my eyes without getting dizzy.

So for this Music Monday it’s not going to be Mana Music… Instead, it’s Mana-related. A while back we mentioned a collaboration taking place for the soundtrack of Concerto Gate, Square-Enix’s new MMORPG, between Kenji Ito and Hiroki Kikuta. Well, the beta came out a while ago, so I thought I would bring you a sample track from it.
