Seiken Densetsu 3 Triangle Story Card Games

In 1995 before Seiken Densetsu was released in Japan a special guide entitled "Seiken Densetsu 3: Prologue" was released. The guide came packaged with a sheet of stickers and a white folder filled with twenty four cards. The guide itself was an introduction to the game's story, characters and gameplay. Of the cards the first twenty two are meant for play and the other two contain instructions. In addition to these cards two holofoil cards were included in a Seiken Densetsu 3 guidebook printed later. There are two different games that can be played.

Game One - Triangle Bout

This card game is very similar to that of the game War. It should be played by an even number of players with cards divided evenly among them. Each turn consists of both players revealing their top card and whoever has the winning card collects everything and adds them to the bottom of their deck. In the case of a tie, both players leave the previously played cards in the middle, set down an additional card and play the next card in their deck. This process is repeated until someone wins.

The game is won when one player controls all of the cards.

Character Group Cards

The Character Group cards all defeat each other in a certain order:

Duran and Angela defeat Kevin and Charolette, Kevin and Charolette defeat Hawkeye and Riesz, and Hawkeye and Riesz defeat Duran and Angela.

Female group cards can be defeated by Flammie and male group cards can be defeated by Boosekaboo.

Motif Cards

Motif cards are the only cards capable of defeating Illustration cards. Against any other cards they are treated as Character Group cards.

Flammie Card

Female Group cards can be defeated by Flammie. Any other cards except Boosekaboo will defeat Flammie.

Boosekaboo Card

Male Group cards can be defeated by Boosekaboo. Any other cards except Flammie will defeat Boosekaboo.

Illustration Cards

The Illustration cards defeat any cards besides Motif cards.

Additional Cards

The two special holofoil cards can defeat any other card.

Game Two - Triangle Connection

The gameplay of this card game is very similar to Crazy Eights or Uno. Two to five people can play. The deck is shuffled and everyone is dealt four cards. The remaining cards are placed in the middle of everyone and the top card is set aside into a new pile. Play order can be decided any which way you please. Depending on the card in the new pile, the active player must place down one of his or her cards into the pile.

If a player has no legal card to play they must draw a card from the deck and pass their turn. If there are no cards left in the deck they must pass their turn. The first player to empty their hand is the winner.
