Game Informer have had an interview with Masaru Oyamada, the producer of the Mana series and got some nice details regarding Trials of Mana. 

The game will not focus on co-op, and will only have a single player option. But the AI will be improved since the previous games.

It will have both Japanese and English voice over.

The story will not be exactly the same.

The producer wasn’t aware of the fan translation that has been available for over a decade. It was not until they greenlit the remake that they found out about it.
