Bestiary - Beast

Beasts contain the largest number of enemies in the Seiken Densetsu series. These monsters are usually some sort of mammal. They usually only use physical attacks and have decent defense.

Bats

Bats are some of the only aerial Beasts.

Chobin Hoods

Though they are usually classified as being Dragons or Demi-humans, Chobin Hoods are more like Beasts.

Goblins

These Demi-humans are very similar to Beasts.

Howlers

Howlers are classified as Beasts.

Molebears and Pebblers

These enemies are usually classified as Beasts.

Tigers and the Jackal

These are some of the biggest Beasts in the games.

Werewolves

Werewolves are part Beast and part human.

Bulette

Bulette

Bullettes are found in the Crystal Desert paired with Dragon Flies. Their name comes from a monster in Dungeons and Dragons which is like a shark that lives in the earth, it is said to have been the creation of a mad wizard who crossed a shark, armadillo and a snapping turtle together.

Bulette

These monsters are similar to Rhinos. They are found in the Desert of Scorching Heat. They attack by ramming you. They can also use a Defense technique, but it never does anything. Their scales can increase your defense.

Gold Bulette

These Bulettes are very rare spawns in the Desert of Scorching Heat. Beastmasters will sometimes spawn them. They have all the same attacks as a normal Bulette, but they gain a Gild technique which does damage and raises their defense.

The Cyclops is faced in the cave between Jadd and Glaive Castle. It attacks with its large Morning Star which you receive after killing it.

Du’Cate

This clubless and orange Du’Inke cousin is found in the Jungle. Skippy and Hamson are told to catch them for Sotherbee so that they may pay off their debts off in Geo. Du’Cate tails sell for 500 dollars. You eventually face off against a giant Du’Cate which swings around in the trees. He will kick at you as well as shoot out melon seeds like a machine gun with his Seed Spit attack. He also has a Butt Bomb attack he will occasionally use. After it is defeated it is carried away by many smaller Du’Cates.

Du’Inke

The Du’Inke is found in Mekiv Caverns where Pearl has stumbled into its lair. It has a giant club with a large skull on the end of it. This purple monkey thing will usually kick at you until he uses his special techniques. Frost Snot involves him breathing cold air out which can turn you into a snowman. With his Roof Shaker attack he throws his club into the air where it knocks down multiple stalagtites.

Du’Mere

The Du’Mere is actually Mephianse’s brother who went searching for Faerie treasure in the Fieg Snowfields. The Ice Witch Crystalle changed him into a Du’Mere as punishment. Mephianse went searching for the Faerie Treasure because he was told it would allow you to speak to the departed, and he wanted to speak to his brother. Crystalle told him his brother was not dead, but was turned into the Du’Mere. Mephianse cannot face his brother like this and has you face him. The Du’Mere is a large white creature similar to the other Du creatures, but it has a shaggier head and large fangs. It uses kicks and punches and will sometimes use an Ice Storm attack. After the death of the Du’Mere Mephianse feels a bit of closure and thanks you.

Minotaurs

These enemies are found throughout the land as normal enemies and are usually involved in a puzzle where you must freeze them to push a switch.

Minotaur / Minotaurs (J)

The Minotaur is found in the Fire Palace right before the Fire Seed. It casts Defender and Earth Slide. When it isn’t casting magic it will extend its horns and ram across the screen, knocking out anyone he hits. As the fight goes on he will become more and more red before he finally dies.

Gorgon Bull

This blue version of the Minotaur is found in the Light Palace on Gold Isle. The fight is nearly exactly the same, but when the Gorgon Bull takes enough damage he will extend giant claws from his wristbands. These claws give him new slashing attacks to use.

Bigieu – Isabella

Isabella finally faces off against you in the Dark Castle. She turns into her true form, a cat. While she is a big cat you can attack her, but she will also turn into a small cat that you cannot harm. She uses various status effecting and HP effecting spells on you like Body Change, Half Vanish and Lunatic. Occasionally she will summon a Lamia Naga. She can use Moon Sabre and Energy Ball on herself. Her special attack is called Rose Highclaw and it is a very powerful physical attack.

Gray Ox

Gray Oxen are found in random places like Lake Kilma, Norn Peaks and the White Forest. They are very uncommon. They attack by ramming you or licking you. As a pet they increase the damage you do to Reptiles.

These large cat heads live in the snowfields outside Lorimar. They are paired with Snowmen.

Ape

These big monkeys are found along the path between Jadd and Glaive Castle.

Ogre

Ogres are found along the path from Jadd to Glaive Castle paired with Barnacle Jacks.

Orc

Orcs live in the areas surrounding Wendel and are paired with Killer Bees. They attack with axes.

Mammoth

Mammoths are the only enemies which are found in the Mana Sanctuary. They drop the very rare Aegis Shield, the best shield in the game.

Walrus

These Walrus people are found in the snowfields outside Lorimar. They jump around. Later in SoM these would be friendly people living in Todo Village.

Were Rat

These rats are first encountered in Kett’s Place. They will usually poison you if they hit you. Their name makes reference to Werewolves.

Chimera

The Chimera in FFA is very similar to the creature of legends. It is part eagle, lion and goat. It is fought at DarkLord’s castle. It attacks by flying down at you in a zig-zag motion and by shooting fireballs at you.

Jewel Eater

This is the second boss in the game and is faced in the Dwarf Caves. It attacks with scratches and its tounge. It will cast Protect Up on itself and Speed Down on you as well as Diamond Missile. It has two punch attacks in which it will shoot across the screen and hit your party. After defeating it Watts will give you the Nitro you need.

Narcissos / Caveman (J)

Narcissos are Demi-human Yeti that have mastered Kung Fu. They are found in very few places. They attack with punches and kicks. A Narcissos named Fernando will appear in the Junkyard if the Gnome level is at 3. He will increase the damage your strikes do.

Teedie

Teedie are strange flying Otters that can be found in areas like Lake Kilma. They attack by shooting rocks and stars and can also make small whirlwinds. As a pet they will add Paralysis to your attacks.
