A friend of mine just blew my mind with this.

Issun is a small guy in Japanese folklore. A magic mallet is used on him to cause him to grow to full size: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uchide_no_kozuchi
Remind you of anyone, or of a manner that a certain character was introduced?
Edit: Uh... is this old news?
Popoie is Issun!
Re: Popoie is Issun!
LOVE Japanese fables and it shouldn't surprise us that the creators of Seiken Densetsu incorporated elements of traditional eastern folklore into the game. Great find; thanks for sharing it!
By the way, if you're at all interested in Japanese film, especially as a window into Japanese culture, I can not recommend the works of Akira Kurosawa enough. His most popular film, The seven Samurai, is widely regarded as one of the greatest films ever made. My personal favorite is Rashomon. Yojimbo is also a very good movie.
While I realize this is a bit of a tangent, I never miss an opportunity to share what I think are great movies with others.
