Magic

Later in the game, elemental spirits become available to be equiped by characters, granting them the ability to cast offensive magic against enemies or support magic upon themselves or other characters (depending on the spell) during a mission. An elemental can only be assigned to one main character at a time, and the spell available for that elemental will vary depending on the character chosen.

To cast use an elemental spell during a mission, select only the character that you want to cast the spell by tapping on them (not encircling) and press the blue button below their character stats on the right hand side of the bottom screen. This button will not be available while the character is carrying out an action (attacking the enemy physically).

Saber type spells will cast upon your own character, and will generally cause your attacks to inflict a particular status ailment upon the enemy a certain percentage of the time, or in Luna’s case to absorb HP while attacking. The effects of the spell last 60 seconds.

God-Beasts

As you complete later levels, you will unlock the ability to create altars to the God-Beasts, which can then be used to summon them and inflict damage and status ailments on all enemy units on the map, visible and invisible, very useful when in a pinch, or just to erradicate a small army when the time is right so to do.

In true Square tradition, each time this happens, a FMV interrupts the play to show us said beasties emerging from their natural habitat and releasing all their pent up fury. There is no sign of Zable Fahr though, which is understandable.
