Moved the topic to general discussion.
kirby wrote:Also, for what you said Ailise oil goes bad 1 year after it is refined, because the hydrocarbons loosen and turn into natural gas, and oil goes bad after 10 years after it is sent into space, and oil also goes bad in 20-25 years after a well is capped off because the hydrocarbon chains unravel.

Anyways with how much energy is consumed by people all over the globe, alternative energy sources do not have enough of a supply to meet the demand even close to the equilibium point, and due to the fact that big oil companies want to monopolize, biofuels are not being made, once oil starts to dissapear the world will have to go ahead and make biofuels to equate the energy the populance wants. Except that during this time approximately 2/3 of the poulation will die, and it will take 7 years in order to start up the first algae biofuel plant, because until then it will not be cost effective to make biofuels in bulk.
1. You are talking about crude oil which is not used in space or as fuel ect. Oil is refined, so even if crude oil would go bad, it doesn't matter. People refine it long before.

2. Oil may be the power of USA today, but it's not the case for the rest of the world. All energy in Sweden is either Nuclear, Wind och Water Power. We (from Sweden) are not so dependent on oil as USA seems to be, and we are not dying out. So stop believing in all those conspiracy theories out there!

3. $15 a gallon is Skyrocket? hehe... in Sweden we have liters. 1 gallon = 3.8 liters.
Here 1 liter gas cost $1.5 us dollars! so 1 gallon gas in Sweden is about $5 us dollars TODAY!!! and no one here complains or is dying. Just this forced development on new fuel types.
We might never see prices as cheap as gas once was, but the world will not end.

Where did you receive the idea that the world would end? It's not Armaggeddon I can tell you that of all things.

The first paragraph that you put does not put into consideration of the first line that I wrote, also I did not mean all countries I mean more like the US, Iraq, Japan, Iran, Saudia Arabia, and most of the countires in the middle east etc.. I do not know about most of Europe besides Sweden now, also here is a good question that I would like to see you answer: What will be the Saudia Arabia of the world without oil? If you say Sweden I will not be happy.

Also, I did not mean mainly electric I primarily meant transportation, since most transportation lines require some form of oil or coal etc. You also have to consider that there would be no more plastics because plastics are made out of oil.

Also, did you move this topic just so that we could ramble on it more, and so Deques could not say it was off-topic?

This is not 2/3 of the world.

To be honest I don't know and I don't care. They managed to live before oil, and they will manage after oil too. Maybe not as rich as now, but i simply don't care. One super power will be replaced by another one.

Again, there is already alternative fuel and more will come. The research won't start right when the oil ends. You might not even notice the transition. Remember CFC?
All plastic is not made of oil. Seriously dude...
