Layout v3 logo

I drew this two today. They are just scratches.
The idea of these two are either of them will become a logo for the next layout. But I am not a good drawer so these look crap.
They will look like silhuettes in final form. Anyone got a good tutorial of making silhuettes in photoshop?

I want to make something like this, not with text, just image

the one in the image is a white border with outer glow.

The only way i know to make silhouettes is to draw the image in PS and add a mask to the layer that makes the image itself invisible ( don't know a better word :/ ) and only "leaves" the border/silhouette.

oh i forgot to mention what those are supposed to be. the left is a tree, a little inspired from mana tree from the world of mana.
the other is a leaf, dunno if its a good to be a logo for seikens

Man, don't talk so bad about your drawing skills. I identified them without your help

Mana tree fits to the subject of this board and leave is a good motive, too, but none of them stand for the community itself. :/
