Hey everyone, I thought my first 'real' post should be a noob-like technical question!

I've downloaded SoM saves from http://eric.halo43.com/downloads/somsaves.zip

I've put the files (Secret of Mana.srm, Secret Of Mana.zst) in the same folder as my SoM game file. THe game file is the same name as the save games (Secret of Mana.smc)

...though when I load the game, there are no saves!

And just to quell any raising eyebrows, I have beaten SoM many, many many times!

Thanks!!!!!!! :D

Make sure that you're using the right region game. I'm not 100% certain, but chances are that if you're using the EU version of the game, and a US SRM or ZST file, it won't like it one bit.

I've tested them out here and they load correctly on the US version I have. I checked whether it is case sensitive, and it isn't. I'd recommend making a copy of your game image, renaming it to something like som.smc and then renaming the savestate and srm file accordingly to keep things simple.

Interesting SRM, almost a 100% maxed out file.

PS. I'm assuming that you have a purchased certified copy of the game.

Okay, I'll find out what region it is and tinker around a bit.

Funny thing, I of course owned an SNES when it first came out as well as SoM when it first came out. Later on down the road I sold my system and all of my games.

Just about 2 years ago I ordered an SNES and SoM from Ebay and enjoyed it all over again.

So yes, I own a copy of the game!

Thanks for the help!!

Good stuff. Just checking, you know, legal stuff and all that. ;) Can't be too careful.

When the game boots up in ZSNES it should tell you the region.

I don't know how to tell what region it is from looking at this

Also I just renamed my files som instead of Secret of Mana for all three files and this doesn't work either.

YIKES!

That's US. Same one that I tried the save file on and it worked no problems. Have you tried renaming the file?

Other than that, go into the ZSNES config menu, Paths, and make sure that's all empty (or copy the files to the directories you have setup if you have set it up in that particular way) so it uses files in the same directory as the image.

Other than that, e-mail me the files and I'll see if there's anything wrong with them. My address should be somewhere here

<---- Yeah, here

Ah, fair enough. That would explain it. Hadn't thought of version numbers... Anyway, enjoy.
