Square Enix filed for a trademark with the name Rise of Mana last week, suggesting that a new title in the Seiken Densetsu series could be in the works. Given the title, could it be, perhaps, a re-release of SD3? It doesn’t quite fit, but you’ll hear more about it here as we find out.

Pray that it isn’t another social mobile game for Japan only.

Isono was born in 1945 in Aichi Prefecture Japan. He graduated from Aichi University of Education 1968. From 1970, He worked for a corporate design studio and he started his career as a free-lance illustrator. Isono’s work, with its main theme in nature, whether jungle, forest, or tropical, is filled with a serene atmosphere, with the strength and appeal of Nature’s wonder.

In 1991, he provided the main visual for Final Fantasy Adventure (Seiken Densetsu), and would continue providing illustrations for the series. The main artwork from Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3 and Dawn of Mana, as well as work in Heroes of Mana, were all penned by him.

He sadly passed away on the 28th of May due to heart failure.

We’ve fallen behind a bit due to my limited access to the site. This is now sorted, so I’ll be catching up with posting these.

The big SD3 remix album I’ve posted about in the past is coming to completion it seems. Rozovian, the guy behind the project, recently told me:

“… we’re now just a few little tracks from being done with the music, and then it’s just up to ocremix to decide when to actually post the album.”

Pretty awesome, right? Seems like only yesterday we first heard about this project… oh that was over 4 years ago?
That’s a long time!

Mike Fischer, former president and CEO of Square Enix of America, who took over leadership of Square Enix of America in July 2010, quit the company this month and is now the vice president of digital Music and Video for Amazon in Japan.

His plans included spending the company’s money not on creating studios, but building up a core internal team of producers and engineers who would then support the independent studios that Square was publishing for.

The past year has been a tough one for Square Enix. Earlier this month, the company announced significant losses during their most recent fiscal quarter, blaming the shortfall on an “increasingly competitive and oligopolistic” console market. Officials with the company previously announced they were unhappy with the sales of their big three titles: Sleeping Dogs, Tomb Raider and Hitman: Absolution.

Bastian from our Seikens forums, together with two friends, Travis and Rick, have started a Let’s Play of Seiken Densetsu 3. This run uses the English translation patch and the 3-player input patch, and you can expect regular episodes to be coming to you twice a week.
