MMM – Bedight Orbit

Posted on November 9th, 2010 by Dr. Sheexy

Today’s track comes from Legend of Mana. It’s a boss track. Honestly I hate this boss track. I think it’s pretty boring and it really drags on in a fight, but maybe someone out there likes this track so I’m uploading it for them. But seriously people, the Seiken Densetsu series has so much great music why not choose a better one to like?

Bedight Orbit – Yoko Shimomura – Legend of Mana
[MEDIA=250]

Also what’s up with this name? Apparently bedight means adorned or dressed, and I guess the orbit part fits in with the other boss names of The Darkness Nova and Pain the Universe. But really, I always thought they meant bednight orbit and it was named after a terrible dream or something.

Anyway, sorry I picked a dull track but I think all of the tracks need their time to shine.

MMT- Death Sally Battle

Posted on November 3rd, 2010 by Dr. Sheexy

It’s late, but it’s here!

Death Sally Battle – Tsuyoshi Sekito – Dawn of Mana
[MEDIA=249]

This is a boss track from Dawn of Mana. I don’t really think it’s a bad track per se, but I am not really sure how well it fits into the game. Especially in the boss fight that you hear it in. Might just be me though, what do you think? Nothing about this track really says Seiken Densetsu to me.

MMM – The Tale Told by the Wind

Posted on October 25th, 2010 by Dr. Sheexy

Today’s track is the ending theme from Heroes of Mana. Out of all the tracks in HoM I think this one’s music gives off the most Legend of Mana-ish vibe. It’s a really nice track, give it a listen.

MMM – Wake Up

Posted on October 18th, 2010 by Dr. Sheexy

Today’s track is shorter than this sentence.

Not Awaken – Hiroki Kikuta – Seiken Densetsu 3
[MEDIA=246]

Well that’s it, the shortest track on the SD3 soundtrack, see you next week for another Mana Music Monday!

Oh it’s not enough music to tide you over? Well okay here is the longest track too.

Return to Forever – Hiroki Kikuta – Seiken Densetsu 3
[MEDIA=247]

Definitely one of the best tracks on the album. If you’ve got almost nine minutes to spare give it a listen through. It’s a nice track which I feel really sums up the music from SoM and SD3 very well. If you didn’t know, Return to Forever is actually a combination of both Repeating Eternity and Legend from Secret of Mana. Both of those tracks feature heavily in the Secret of Mana + album, so if you like this almost 9 minute track you should get that album and enjoy the almost 50 minute track it has.

MMM – Symphonic Sample

Posted on October 10th, 2010 by Kassidy Kearey

KassRecently we reported on the Symphonic Fantasies album, which is now out, and having received my copy and listened to it I can tell you, it is worth every penny. Wonderful renditions of classic themes from our favourite Square RPGs. Now each track being 15+ minutes long means that putting it here on MMM isn’t going to happen today at least, but I wanted to share with you a sample of the Secret of Mana track that I found very attentive to detail. Pay close attention to the beginning of the sample.

This just reinforces to me the fact that it arranged by people who have a love for the games themselves and not just the music.

And yes, it’s a day early because otherwise tomorrow I’ll be busy and may forget. 😉

MMM – The Things We Didn’t Know

Posted on October 4th, 2010 by Dr. Sheexy

Both bastian from the forums and Kassidy ended up linking me to this track, so I guess I’ll continue the linking train!

The Things We Didn’t Know (OC Remix Page) – Vampire Hunter Dan (OC Remix Page)
Secret of Mana – Hiroki Kikuta – Danger, Fear of the Heavens, Into the Thick of It, What the Forest Taught Me

This is a fun track, it mixes some of the most memorable tracks from Secret of Mana into an amazing orchestral piece that flows really well. I especially love the bits with the Danger track, it’s one of my favorites from Secret of Mana and needs more love!

Give it a few listens and be sure to head over to OC Remix and the artist’s profile to check out all sorts of great game music!

MMM – Sacrifice Part One

Posted on September 27th, 2010 by Dr. Sheexy

October is almost here, so to get you in the mood for Halloween season I’ve got some creepy music for you this week.

Sacrifice Part One – Hiroki Kikuta – Seiken Densetsu 3
[MEDIA=242]

Now this is kinda weird, cause it’s not the most musical of tracks, but I really like this one. Not sure what it is about the track, I just really enjoy it.

Sheexy’s Shopping Channel

Posted on September 24th, 2010 by Dr. Sheexy

– Hey it’s the Shopping Channel again!

– Hey I’m still a cat again!

– Hey I’m still dancing again!

– Woo! Good times you guys, good times. Let’s get down to business!

– Everyone loves the Children and Dawn of Mana Artbook. You can’t go wrong with this, every page has great art and there are over 700 different drawings from the game. It includes character designs, level texture designs, storyboard panels and more!

– Don’t forget the Seiken Densetsu Piano Book, it’s got piano sheet music from all the games except Heroes of Mana!

– How about a Secret of Mana Nintendo Power Poster? These are hard to find at a good price now. Also there is this interesting Four Page SoM Ad that doubles as a little poster. It’s expensive but it’s pretty nice considering it doesn’t have that weird red dragon on it.

– This Rabite Phone Charm is more expensive than the one for sale on the official Square-Enix website, but if you buy this you can bypass the 23 dollar purchase limit the site requires. If this is the only item you want from there then this is your best bet to get it. Also this Seiken Densetsu 3 Prologue Book is a bit expensive, but it’s the cheapest one available on eBay at the moment.

– Well guys, it was good to see you all again, it’s been a while since we’ve done this.

– It’s ok, gave me plenty of time to expand my dance moves!

– Oh yeah? What new moves do you know?

– Check out this one!

– … you’re not moving.

– Yeah, isn’t it cool? I’ve never done that dance before!

Mana Music Tuesday

Posted on September 21st, 2010 by Dr. Sheexy

Whoops, time escaped me and I didn’t get a song up yesterday.

This week’s track is one of the village musics from Seiken Densetsu 3. I like it because it’s nice and calm and really makes you feel at home. So sit back, relax, and feel at home wherever you are.

MMM Extra – Symphonic Fantasies

Posted on September 14th, 2010 by Kassidy Kearey

KassDue for release this month, on the 17th of Sept, is the CD entitled Symphonic Fantasies. Recorded during the concert of the same name 12th Sept 2009 at the Cologne Philarmonic Hall, the WDR Radio Orchestra and Choir, Benyamin Nuss and Rony Barrak, led by Arnie Roth, performed a set of medleys spanning music from Kingdom Hearts, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy.

The multi-track recordings of the concert were edited and mixed at WDR Studios, capturing the best dynamics for all 120 musicians. The final mastering process took place at Abbey Road Studios, in London.

[MEDIA=240]

The track-list and originating tracks are as follows:

Symphonic Fantasies Cover01. Fanfare overture (Jonne Valtonen)
02. Fantasy I: Kingdom Hearts (Yoko Shimomura)
03. Fantasy II: Secret of Mana (Hiroki Kikuta)
04. Fantasy III: Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross (Yasunori Mitsuda)
05. Fantasy IV: Final Fantasy (Nobuo Uematsu)

The Secret of Mana track contains music from “Angel’s Fear”, “Flight into the Unknown”, “Eternal Recurrence”, “Premonition”, “The Sorcerer”, and “Rose and Spirit”, as well as a boss battle encore suite which included “Meridian Festival”.

Each track is in excess of 15 minutes.

For now the CD is only going to be available from Germany, either from the WDR Shop or Amazon.de, and while they do international shipping it’ll cost you a pretty penny. Maz-Sound do shipping outside EU for 6€, which isn’t too bad. Expect international releases to follow later. You can also buy an MP3 version from Amazon.de.

The cost of the CD is between 14,95€ and 19,95€, depending where you buy it from.
