– Well we’ve got a lot of stuff today, so let’s get started!

– First take a look at this Secret of Mana Phonecard and this 1994 Desk Calendar with Secret of Mana pictures in it. These items are no doubt very rare, and those prices reflect that fact.

– That’s a neat looking drawing of Flammie on August though. So, let’s keep going down the Secret of Mana path eh? There are a few chances this week to pick up a nice copy of Secret of Mana with the map and manual. This one actually has two maps, one of which I have never seen before. I’m not quite sure what is up with the second map there, but the rest of the auction looks legit. UPDATE:The second map is actually from Final Fantasy II. There is also This Copy with the map and manual.

– If you want to pick up all the Legend of Mana manga books, look no further!

– That’s a really good deal so far, speaking of Legend of Mana, take a look at This Jumi Music Box with Pearl and Elazul Figures. Now I know it’s neat, but that price is pretty insane. I bought the same thing for under 20 dollars, so there is no reason to spend as much as is being asked here.

– Also speaking more of Legend of Mana, you can get this Legend of Mana Novel if you want it. It’s in solid Japanese with no pictures, so you probably don’t want it, but the offer is on the table.

– Buy these Children and Dawn of Mana Artbooks (One, Two). You won’t regret it!

And finally we’ll wrap up with these Sword of Mana things. You can get this SwoM Novel which is interspersed with drawings, or go for this SwoM Manga which appears to be solid drawings. That’s it for now, see you all next week with more deals!

We received a mail from Nathanyel providing us with some further information on the origin for Neko, Pecard and Dryad’s names in Secret of Mana, meaning our Characters page is now even more complete and fact-filled than it was before. Many thanks, Nathanyel, for helping us out!

Legend of Mana Zippo Lighters

Posted on October 10th, 2009 by Dr. Sheexy

Two of the strangest pieces of Seiken Densetsu merchandise I’ve come across are the Zippo lighters that were produced for Legend of Mana. LoM is easily the game with the most merchandise associated with it, stuff like a trading card game, a picture frame, t-shirts, plushies, etc. but the Zippo lighters have always seemed like a pretty random choice for merchandise to me.
I’ve always seen pictures of the Zippos but I figured they’d be so rare that I’d never get them both. Also there is a Dawn of Mana Zippo Lighter as well that looks kind of intricately designed, but I had to choose between buying it and the Sword of Mana silver pendant while I was in Japan, I made the obvious choice.

Anyways, chances are you’ve seen the Rabite Zippo Lighter. I’ve written about it before in this news post (part 1).

I managed to find and buy one quite a few years ago, and I’ve set stuff on fire with it and had a grand time. In all the photos I had seen of it before it looked like an ordinary brass Zippo with some Rabites engraved on it, and that’s what it is. It came in a little metal box with “Original Zippo Lighter Brass” printed on it, and the LoM Logo above it. Also there were only 300 made, and mine is number 284.

The second one I had only seen in small photos for a long time, but as far as I could tell it was less visually appealing because it just had the LoM Logo on it.
It was also a kind of tannish color which I assumed was because it was just normal brass instead of the silver looking color the other Zippo lighters tend to have.
Those two things kind of made me not care too much about getting my hands on it.

Anyways, a couple of days ago I stumbled on a website that had one of these second lighters in stock, so I snatched it up as fast as I could, and just this morning I got a call from the post office that I had a package that just came in, so I ran and got it and came back here to open it up.

I opened the box, cut it open, ripped off the bubble wrap and looked at what I had.

Instead of a metal looking box like the other one, this one came in a little wooden box with “Legend of Mana” written on it, wasn’t the full logo because it didn’t have the Mana Tree on it, and then under that it said “Original Zippo Lighter Wood”.

“Original Zippo Lighter Wood

Ok, I thought, it’s talking about the box I guess? Surely you wouldn’t make a Zippo Lighter out of wood. So I opened the little thing up and it had all this brown paper grass in it, and lo and behold, a wooden Zippo Lighter.

Luckily it’s a brass Zippo completely coated in wood, so the Zippo insides won’t leak all the lighter fluid directly onto the wood, but it still kind of caught me off guard, because these things make fire, why would you coat it in the world’s favorite thing to burn?

It doesn’t appear to have ever been used, which is good because I would have felt bad if it had any smoke or burn damages on it, also 300 of these were made too, and mine is number 81.
I can only wonder if the other 299 still exist, or if they’ve burned up.

Needless to say, I don’t think I’ll be putting any lighter fluid in this one.

– Ok, there is quite a bit of new stuff today!

– I just want to start off today by listing these Children of Mana and Dawn of Mana Artbooks (one, two). The second one is on sale right now, but it ends tomorrow unfortunately.

– Speaking of sales, this Secret of Mana Adventure Guidebook is on sale too. It’s a pretty fun little guidebook, it’s all in Japanese but it has some fun one panel comics inside that illustrate how each boss fight goes.

– There are a few more Seiken Densetsu 3 Prologue Books (one, two). Again, the second one is on sale currently and it will end soon!

– Geez, what’s up with all these sales ending today? Maybe I should do this update earlier in the week.

– You know you’d just procrastinate and put the update off until today anyways.

– Yeah, that’s true.

– How about some games? This auction for Secret of Mana + 2 Controllers + a Multi-tap might be a bit expensive, but you can make an offer on it and maybe pick it up for less. Or how about a cheap copy of Legend of Mana with the Guidebook?

– Or if you’re into the newer games you can get Children of Mana or Sword of Mana.

– Get the Dawn of Mana 4CD Soundtrack! It’s awesome!

– Aaand a final roundup of two random items: A Secret of Mana Nintendo Power Poster and this Sword of Mana Comic Book. I’ve never seen the inside of that comic book, but I really want it. In fact my birthday is Sunday so how about someone buys it for me? Anyone?

– No.

– No.

– Well it was worth a shot, see you all next week!

Mana Music Monday- Lucemia

Posted on October 5th, 2009 by Dr. Sheexy

The name of a certain member on the forums has been making me want to play Legend of Mana and finish off the Faerie arc again, for the story but also for the awesome music. So here is the music from the end of that arc, I really love this music, it’s got a great adventuring and uplifting kind of feel to it.

– Hey, wasn’t this update supposed to happen yesterday?

– Eh, Thursday, Friday doesn’t matter just as long as I do it. Besides I was working on a huge report yesterday.

– Don’t you still have to finish that?

– Maybe later… right now we gotta try and sell stuff! And lucky us, eBay has lots of good deals again! Just look at how cheap this Seiken Densetsu 3 Prologue Book is! Remember, this little thing comes with a book that has lots of nice artwork in it, as well as some big SD3 cards and some SD3 stickers! It’s one of the neatest pieces of SD3 merchandise.

– This Seiken Densetsu Piano Collection Book is also amazingly cheap! Learn to play songs from all the different games, and then I will come to your house and dance to them!

– Really?

– No, but you can pretend!

– So kind of like how Sheexy pretends we come over and help him do this update?

– What, this stuff really happens, I swear. Anyways, if you like Final Fantasy Adventure you might consider picking up this Basic Guidebook. It has hand drawings of every item, monster, and main character in it! It’s one of my favorite things, that’s why I have two of them.

– It might be a bit out of your price range, but this Legend of Mana: Making of Mana art book is really nice. You won’t find a better collection of LoM artwork in any other place, except maybe our gallery.

– Nice save there, Neko. How about some nice Secret of Mana stuff? Get the Nintendo Power Poster, the Manual, the Basic Guidebook that has all the armor and item art in it, the inferior yet still kind of neat English Guidebook and-

– Also buy this copy of the game for $2,199.

– WHAT?! Over 2,000 dollars?! I mean the game is awesome, but that price is ridiculous!

– That is because I am the seller.

– Oh, ok, makes sense now. Well I think I’m going to call it a day, because that price kind of made me die inside. See y’all next time!

– Ok, we’re going to start of this week’s Shopping Channel update with some art related stuff! First of all I found this Children and Dawn of Mana Art Book for a decent price!

– As much as it pains me to say, this Seiken Densetsu 3 Prologue Book with Cards and Stickers is next to free at the moment. If you can’t win that one then maybe you can get This One or This Other One both of which are more expensive. I feel better now.

– Also pretty cheap is this Legend of Mana Postcard Book! It’s got lots of nice pictures in it!

– If your’e itching to play Secret of Mana or Legend of Mana then you can buy this Two Game Bundle with them! Doesn’t come with any neat inserts for Secret of Mana, but it’s a great deal!

– If Secret of Mana with all the fixings is your thing, you can try to win This One or This Other One!

– Well that’s all for this week, it’s not much but it’s better than nothing.

– Yeah I was getting pretty bored without stuff to sell.

– You should take up dancing, it’s a fulfilling hobby!

– We’ll see you next week, and remember, if you ever need some advice on a piece of Seiken Densetsu merchandise feel free to sign up on the message boards or shoot me an e-mail and I’ll do my best to help you out.
