Square-Enix’s E3 Line-Up

Posted on June 23rd, 2008 by Kassidy Kearey

KassidyBegs the questions as to why there was ever a point even hoping for anything different.
No Mana, no surprise.

Still, at least there’s some Dragon Quest in there, Duran. Other than that, predictable as ever. Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. I found it funny that on one site they were moaning that those two and Mana were the only series getting any attention. Which yes, we’ve had a few Mana titles recently, but were they worth it?

Please note that this list was obtained from a third-party fan site, NOT from official Square sources directly, so it is plausible that this list is inaccurate or does not represent the final line-up (or could even be a load of rabite fodder), so take with a pinch of salt.

  • Final Fantasy VII Advent Children 2 (Bluray) – Confirmed

MMM – To the Sea

Posted on June 16th, 2008 by Dr. Sheexy

The most cliché place to go for summer vacation is to the beach, so the Legend of Mana track To the Sea is a pretty fitting Seiken Densetsu tune for the summer.

Er, my updating spiel kind of died… new updates are still coming, just slowly as I’m trying to get my sleeping disorder nailed down again.

E3 Approaches

Posted on June 16th, 2008 by Kassidy Kearey

The E3 expo approaches (1 month to go), and Square have confirmed attendance. So far they have not announced their line-up for this year, but let’s face it, there is no point even holding out hope for anything Mana related to be on the agenda. No doubt there will be at least a dozen Final Fantasy titles, and maybe the occasional other tidbit. But, should, by strange twist of fate, a Mana title be announced, you’ll hear it from us faster than you can say antidisestablishmentarianism.

Aim for the top!

Posted on June 15th, 2008 by Deques

Are you one of the many that wants to level up to the max level in Seiken Densetsu 3, but lack of motivation or ideas of how to level up as fast as possible? Trang is one of the few who actually maxed the level for all six characters. Not only that, he also did max for all classes. He is now sharing his leveling tips with rest of us Seiken Densetsu 3 players. You can see his leveling guide in the Level guide in the Seiken Densetsu 3 section.
Thank you, Trang

Bestiary Overhaul Begins

Posted on June 10th, 2008 by Dr. Sheexy

Hey, remember when this site used to never get updated?

I’ve begun work on overhauling the Bestiary section. All of the images are broken on most of the pages because our old gallery is gone, and it was pulling images from there, so I’ve got to go through and fix those. I’m also adding information on enemies from SwoM, CoM, and DoM.

Pages that have been updated today include: Dragons, Ducks, Eggs, Faces, Flowers, Ghosts, Gigas, Jewel Beasts and the Lord of Jewels, Liches, Mantis Ants, Ninjas, Dragons, Succubi, Tigers and the Jackal, Tropicallos, and Vampires.

And I still have 47 more pages to go…

Seiken Densetsu 3 Chibi Characters

Posted on June 10th, 2008 by Dr. Sheexy

Head over to the Seiken Densetsu 3 Character Gallery to find some awesome chibi character arts!

In the book these images were seriously the size of a quarter, I had scan at a ludicrously high DPI to get these scans this large, so you people better enjoy them XD.

They come in two sizes, decent size and gigantic size.

Coming up soon are more SD3 scans, they won’t be as large as these though because it takes forever to get the scans done, and the rest of the scans I’ve got left are only really useful for making site sections look neat.

Speaking of sections looking neat, I put some images and updated the SD3 Magic Items and SD3 Class Items pages. They might change again depending on what Deques does to them.

MMM – Doujins of Mana

Posted on June 9th, 2008 by Kassidy Kearey

KassidyThis weekend has seen a lot of updates, in contrast to our recent slow trundle along, thanks to Sheexy’s massive scanning quest and gallery upheave. Head on over to the gallery to check those out. Deques and Ailise meanwhile have been working behind the scenes to make the site run smoother and cleaner, so expect improvements to hit the site soon enough. From my end of things, I’m still working at getting things together for upcoming content. This is taking longer than anticipated due to work mainly, but also, I confess, as a consequence of Apollo Justice needing some help to sort out his clients. And things are only going to get worse on that front, because with Mugen no Frontier in my hands, and Final Fantasy Tactics A2 (remember the one that I promised I wouldn’t play in Japanese so it did’t interfere with covering Heroes of Mana?) about to his the shops, there are only so many hours in the day left!

And thank you for keeping your suggestions coming in with regards to what you want to see. Some of them, funnily enough, are covered in two of the projects that I have running for the site as I type, so hope you enjoy those when they see the light of day.

But, I’ve made a start at least. As part of today’s Mana Music Monday, you’re also getting coverage of some of the more prominent fan-made albums inspired by music from the Seiken Densetsu series. Known as Doujin in Japanese (and not refering to certain manga spin-offs), 5 albums in particular have hit the market in past years that remix or rearrange tracks from the games. Head on over to our Soundtracks section and look under Doujin Albums for tracklists, samples, and where to buy them. I’ll also be elaborating on the reviews a bit more when I get the chance.

And to start you off, this week’s MMM is a complete track from one of those albums; Legend III -Mana- by Lukard, and the track is Battle 1 from Final Fantasy Adventure.

Gallery Update

Posted on June 8th, 2008 by Dr. Sheexy

The gallery has navigation now, I dunno why it wasn’t there before, but now we have a breadcrumb trail up top and previous and next links when you’re looking at single images.

Also, the Final Fantasy Adventure Gallery now has the weapons and armor in an Equipment album, and magic spell art can be found on the Characters page.

The FFA scans aren’t new, but I’m sure there is someone who hasn’t been around the Final Fantasy Aventure section, and now they’re located in a more convenient place.

Seiken Densetsu 3 Item Scans

Posted on June 8th, 2008 by Dr. Sheexy

Items ahoy!

Our gallery now hosts images of all the Seiken Densetsu 3 Items! Well, stuff like monster eyes and claws don’t have official images, but everything else you could think of is there.
Some of the scans are a little bad, but that can’t be helped thanks to where the images were placed on the page.

Be sure to check out the elemental statues, some of them are pretty awesome, while others are pretty lame (Wisp) or really really creepy (Jinn… *shudder shudder*).

Coming up in the scan department are FFA items, SD3 chibis and lots of SoM stuff.

Seiken Densetsu 3 Armor Scans

Posted on June 7th, 2008 by Dr. Sheexy

Head over to the Seiken Densetsu 3 Equipment Gallery for more scanned goodies. If you liked the Weapon scans I added last time you’re sure to enjoy these armor scans. Well, probably. They kind of suck because the armor isn’t presented as large as the weapons, and the armor tends to like to live in the middle margin where it is a pain to scan without damaging my books. Maybe one day when I own multiple copies I’ll rip my books apart to get the best scans, but for now these are going to have to do.

Coming up next week (probably) will be a HUGE Bestiary update. We’re talking the Bestiary will be like, 85% done. Only stuff missing will be sprites from SwoM and CoM (maybe HoM, I dunno what Kassidy has done on that front), and I’m gonna leave writing the Bestiary portions of the HoM stuff to him since I haven’t played the game really. Dawn of Mana monster scans will come later for the Bestiary too.
