Death Queen City Lives Again

September 24th, 2022 | Dr. Sheexy | Filed under Final Fantasy Adventure, Merchandise, Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3, Trials of Mana

So over on the Japanese side of the web, there was a great site called “Death Queen Ward” that unfortunately went down back in July. The site started out as a “Village” in 2002, upgraded to a “Town” in 2009, later a “Ward” around 2013, and now it is back in “City” form as of 2022. When the site went down, I reached out to the owner over Twitter and that seemed to have spurred them to rebuild the entire thing to bring it back.

So, what is it? Well it’s a great repository for all things retro Square, mostly within the Famicom and Super Famicom era. So Final Fantasy Adventure, Secret of Mana, and the original Trials of Mana fall right in place. The owner of the site, the Mayor Queen, has an extensive collection of merch and print media from that era along with a very impressive Phone Card collection. Trials of Mana in particular has some very rare and very expensive phone cards that I have opted out of collecting, just to save my sanity (and wallet).

Check out the merch Death Queen Mayor has picked up for these Mana games:
Final Fantasy Adventure
Secret of Mana
Trials of Mana
and even the Mana game that never was, Seiken Densetsu: Emergence of Excalibur
Also head over and see all the other goodness at Death Queen City.

It’s a very cool site, the new layout is particularly stylish, and it will be critical in helping me with my own rebuild of the Merchandise section here on Seikens whenever I can find time to get around to it!

I wonder where Death Queen City will go in the future… Death Queen District? Death Queen Metropolis? Maybe someday we’ll even see a Death Queen Ecumenopolis.

Trials of Mana – Class change update

September 26th, 2021 | Deques | Filed under Seiken Densetsu 3

This is something that I have wanted for a long time but never had much time to work on. And it is to update the Trials of Mana pages to fit with the official translation of the game. Trials of Mana, also known as Seiken Densetsu 3, was never available outside of Japan. A fan translation by Neill Corlett was released August 2000.

The game was officially released for the North America and PAL regions in June 2019 as part of Collection of Mana, which contained the three first games in original versions. With this release there are many things that have been differently translated.

Today I have update Angela’s class page! The updated page not only contains official translation, but also information for the remake that was released last year. For now the page doesn’t have information for the final classes for each light/dark path. But I will add those later. I will try to update the class information for all the other characters as soon as possible.

Mana Music Boxes

July 15th, 2021 | Dr. Sheexy | Filed under Legend of Mana, Merchandise, Music, Seiken Densetsu 3, Trials of Mana, Videos

Up for preorder on the Square-Enix store, you can find three Mana Music Boxes for sale. They’re pretty expensive, and the shipping is pretty high as well, but it’s pretty cool these came to the North American Square-Enix store.

Trials of Mana – Meridian Child

Legend of Mana – Hometown of Domina

Legend of Mana – Bejeweled City in Ruins

Here you can check out some short videos I took of each of them. The Domina one is by far my favorite.

You can also find some other cool Mana stuff there, if you look around. I’d recommend the Li’l Cactus Plushie, but you can also find some very expensive but very cool things.
