Bestiary Overhaul

April 2nd, 2007 | Dr. Sheexy | Filed under Bestiary, Music, Seikens

Woo, V3 is up!  Awesome Dekky!

With V3 being up the first new feature you can find is over in the Bestiary!  Now you can click game titles and alphabet letters to better find enemies if you can’t figure out which family they belong to!  Alternatively, it makes a nifty way to sort out enemies if you’re working on a fan project or something.

Also, I updated the Bestiary!  A few fixes here and there, but I’ve also added Undead and Egg families and gave Ghosts an overhaul!

Dekky and I were just kidding about giving up on stuff, so keep checking the site out!  New Bestiary updates are still coming!
Also, Mana Music Monday will be on Tuesday this week because we have so many updates going already, hahaha.

April 2nd, 2007 | Deques | Filed under Seikens

Here it is! The new and cool new Seikens!! Did we fool you? Did you really think that I dropped v3? Or did you get fooled by Sheexy about him dropping the bestiary? None of these were true, we were just fooling you.
Here it is, v3 aka Burning Water of Seikens! v3 will later feature a lot of new stuff. But those won’t be revealed yet.
Get ready for new features coming!

Bestiary Bad News

March 30th, 2007 | Dr. Sheexy | Filed under Bestiary, Seikens

Ok guys.  It is getting pretty crazy over here with school and the fact that I am now completely sure I am going to be in Japan a long time this Summer.

The Bestiary itself has maybe 14 families left to do, then a few little cleaning up things.  I was trying to work out a nice way to organize everything, but that is going to have to wait.  I’m not going to be able to do any of the Bestiary stuff for a while, but if I do find time to do some updates to it it won’t be anywhere near Four.  One a week might be possible, but we’ll see.

Anyways, this will all get settled in the end.

Good news and bad news

March 29th, 2007 | Deques | Filed under Dawn of Mana, Seikens

First the good one.
American release of the latest game of the Seiken Densetsu or Mana series has been set. The game will be released in North America on 22th May this year. It has been fourteen years since a true sequel of the series is coming outside Japan. So you better prepare your wallet when it’s out.

Now to the bad one.
After many months of working with Burning Water aka v3 of Seikens I have come to a point where it’s pointless to make a new layout. New layout doesn’t mean better site or higher visit rate. It’s just cosmetic, nothing more. Current one is good enough and can stay one or four more years or longer. So, to make a conclusion: v3 is dead. And will never rise again from the grave.

Whatever Wednesday – Cooking with Sheexy

March 29th, 2007 | Dr. Sheexy | Filed under Legend of Mana, Seikens, Whatever Wednesday

Hey!  It’s me Sheexy!
Are there any Legend of Mana fans here?  Good to hear!  Good to hear!
We’re gonna work on our Legend of Mana recipes here today, so get your best materials and head over to your forge!   Let’s get ready to knock it up a notch!

Alright, for those of you who need some quick money I’ve got the perfect get rich dish for you!
All you need is a hat called “WindCap” and four Clear Feathers!  Temper the Clear Feathers onto your WindCap there and BAM!  You’ve got yourself a 20,000+ Lucre!  Getting the materials for this piece is easy!  Head over to Luon Highway and find a place with Spiny Cones and Stinger Bugs.  The Cones drop the hats and the Bees drop the feathers!  Now we’re cooking!

How about those of you out there who are looking to make yourself look good?
Want to add 20 points to all your stats besides HP?  Look no further!  As long as you’re not making anything out of Maia Lead, which if you don’t have a Wonder Swan you don’t have to worry about, this dish will serve!
I like to start things out with a Dryad Silver piece or any Seed that ain’t Spiny and then follow it up with three Sulfur.  After that is all ready pop in another Dryad Silver, this time make no substitutes or you’ll throw the formula out of whack!  A Needle, two Spiny Seeds and a Poison Fang come next.  To finish it off throw in eight Spiny Seeds!
BAM!  Now we’re cookin’ with gas!

This next one is for all of you pet lovers out there.  Daena didn’t give you the Forbidden Ring?  Don’t worry about it!  We’ll make our own!
Get yourself a ring, any type will do, and stir in the following: one big, small or long seed, it doesn’t really matter; three Sulfurs; another big, small or long seed, again it doesn’t matter which one; toss in an Ear of Wheat and end it with a Moth Ring or Creepy eye, either one will do.
BAM!  Now you and your pet can share experience!  Can you feel the love?

Alright, to wrap things up tonight how about a nice Lucky item?  Luck is hard to come by in Legend of Mana, unless you’ve got a Rabite or a Polter Box running around with you you’re gonna need some, so here is what we do.
Start things off with a Spiny Seed, throw in two Sulfur, a Glow Crystal and then let it come to a boil.  Next we’re gonna add a non-Spiny seed followed by a Poison Fang and two Aura Silver.  Toss in a Lillipod and add any type of meat in until your Luck reaches 20!
I gotta warn you, your stats are gonna take a hit from this dish so you might want to pair it with the +20 stat formula up there on another piece of armor.

Until next time this was Cookin’ with Sheexy and remember, when you’re lookin’ for some cookin’ this is the place to be!

Cooking With Sheexy was typed before a live studio audience.  Or rather, part of it was, but then my roommates got bored and walked away.

Heroes of Mana and Bestiary

March 27th, 2007 | Dr. Sheexy | Filed under Bestiary, Heroes of Mana, Seikens

Hey everyone, first I’d like to say that Heroes of Mana is going to be released State side late this summer!  Thanks to Boreras in the Shoutbox for linking me to the article at Kotaku Here, who in turn got their information from IGN Here.

Also, just a small early warning that the Bestiary will not update on Saturday due to, shall we say, technical reasons.  Deques and I are going to be cleaning it up a bit.

Bestiary Update

March 24th, 2007 | Dr. Sheexy | Filed under Bestiary, Seikens

https://www.seikens.com/bestiary/gfx/bestiary.gifHere there be yet more monsters!https://www.seikens.com/bestiary/gfx/bestiary.gif

What is this?  A Bestiary Update done on the correct day of the week?  Madness!  Too bad it is only an hour into Saturday, haha.  Might as well count this as Friday…
Anyways, check that out.  Five new articles to read!

Ok, so that is a lie.  New articles include Bats, Cones, Crawlers and Flowers.  The fifth “new” one is just the Sword enemies split apart from the Living Objects page.  I figure the enemies have been in every game, they deserve their own page.  Also, the FFA Boss page is gone, I’m reworking that idea.

I’d like to extend a thank you to SixHeadedDog from the forums for helping me fix up some of the stuff in the Bestiary!  Thanks man!

Also, you can’t visit the About page.  I had a fight with it and I won.
Or lost, depends on how you look at it.

Mana Music Monday – HoM Exclusive

March 19th, 2007 | Kassidy Kearey | Filed under Heroes of Mana, Music, Seikens

This week and as what could well be a web exclusive, we bring you a selection of tracks from the most recent release in the World of Mana series, Heroes of Mana, which have been ripped straight from the game. As such, you can expect the quality on the OST soon to be released to be at least marginally better.

Again, this soundtrack comes from the hand of Yoko Shimomura, known for working on Legend of Mana, Street Fighter 2, and more recently the Kingdom Hearts series.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Gnome looks like a Leprechaun doesn’t he?
Or at least, I’m gonna stereotype him as one, because St. Patty’s day is all about Irish stereotyping!  And green.

Happy St. Patrick’s day all!
