According to the Square-Enix facebook page, Secret of Mana for iPhone is finished now and is coming out within the month! Thanks to Ailise for the heads up on this information!
Now someone buy me an iPhone for Christmas!
Here is the producer of the game, Masaru Oyamada, celebrating it being finished. Could he be hinting at 5 days until it’s released?
Dancing Beasts – Hiroki Kikuta – Secret of Mana

I’ve always liked this track. It’s kinda funny and I’m sure that’s what the entire Mushroom village area was going for. King Truffle is awesome. Unfortunately my SoM CD has a scratch I guess, and whenever it plays the last half of this song it does it in hyperspeed, it’s pretty bizarre.
Return to Mana – Legacy of the Eight Elementals – is a work in progress mod using the Source engine, set 43 years after the events of Secret of Mana. Originally anounced back in 2006, it went on ice back in 2007, but they have since revealed, on December 5th, that they have spent a year working further on the Mod and are making progress. The development is done by Team Monkey, who have worked on titles such as Crysis, Ankh and the Settlers series.
The game’s first episode is slated for release sometime in 2011, free for the PC (You need Steam and an Orange Box Engine based game, such as Half Life 2, Episode 1), and will feature 3-player co-op over LAN or Steam, 12 out of a total 50 intended maps, and multiple other goodies and features.
Return to Mana is back! After more than 1 year of continuous work are glad to announce: Return to Mana is more active than ever, coming back with a brand new art style, new website and episode1 will be released in 2011. We hope you liked our small Christmas present.
Inspired by SNES classics, Team Monkey announces a brand new fantasy adventure/RPG for PC. In Return to Mana – Legacy of the eight elements, brings an innovative fresh setting to the PC platform and a full 3 player cooperative playing experience. Fight together with 2 friends to prevent the Empire from rising again and restore peace to the world of Mana.
Part of the “I love free Games” movement, Return to Mana is the first game designed from the very start to be a totally free game based on valves SOURCE engine. Team Monkey consists of professional game designers who have worked on AAA titles like “Crysis”. Because of nothing but pure love to gaming we are bringing this amazing gaming experience to you.
Mana Music Monday indeed, I’ve got another music update for you today.
What is Songs of Light and Darkness exactly? Well it’s that SD3 fan remix project I’ve posted about before!
Seems rozovian, the guy behind the project, has a preview track ready. Try to pick out the tracks before reading them in the cut, it’s pretty fun and I failed miserably at recognizing stuff, haha. I always knew I was bad with picking out tunes, but one out of five? For shame Sheexy, for shame! Anyway, it’s a short preview but it all sounds really good!

Neat right?
Today we’ve got two tracks that come from the Arena section in Dawn of Mana.
Pop, Pop, Pop – Kenji Ito – Dawn of Mana
[MEDIA=254] Shout, Shout, Shout – Kenji Ito – Dawn of Mana
[MEDIA=255]
I can agree with the title on the first one cause it’s gives off a kinda poppy happy vibe, but the second track just doesn’t make me think of shouting. It does really remind me of various themes through FFA, SwoM, CoM and DoM though. It’s definitely an amalgamation of Kenji Ito’s Seiken Densetsu style.
How about some boss battle music? I really love how many different boss tracks Seiken Densetsu 3 had.
Black Soup – Hiroki Kikuta – Seiken Densetsu 3
[MEDIA=253]
Something about those sharp drum parts just make me think Seiken Densetsu 3, they seem to be used in lots of the tracks. I never realized but Secret of Mana has a lot of that too, but I think it’s more prevalent in SD3. Maybe, oh I dunno, because there are so many more tracks? Haha.
Today’s track is actually the game over track from Heroes of Mana. Once again I’d like to mention that the LoM sound is really heavy on all of these Heroes of Mana tracks. That’s awesome because I love the music from Legend. I do wish that Hiroki Kikuta could get some new Mana tracks though, but then we’d need a new game. And I’m not sure if I’m ready for that leap considering how sub-par awesome the last few games have been.
Anyway, for a game over track this is actually kinda happy and sad at the same time. I think it’s really pretty, too bad the only time you’d get to hear it is after you messed up.

Another Monday full of music, and with a site update to boot!
The following remixes have been added to our remix section, which was falling a bit behind (my bad, sorry). These have been contributed by the good old people at OCRemix.
You’ll be able to find them easily on the pages for FFA, SoM and SD3 as they have the icon next to them.
FFA
‘Chivalry Begins’ by Big Giant Circles
SoM
‘Things We Didn’t Know’ by Vampire Hunter Dan
‘Step Off My Flower Bed’ by Nase
‘Sea/Sky’ by Ziwtra
SD3
‘Aurora Borealis’ by Rozovian
I’ve picked out this one in particular, Step Off my Flower Bed, by Nase, simply because there’s so much going on in the remix, you should listen to it several times and will keep picking up more as you revisit it.
As you can see it’s got the updated SoM Mobile graphics and they look really nice. The controls seem pretty good too, nice touch controls on the ring menu though I kinda miss the items spinning. They do spin when you switch menus at least. Does it seem a bit laggy to anyone else though? It’s pretty cool looking until they end up hitting a cutscene and messing everything up! Apparently it’s supposed to be coming out in Japan around Christmas time. If this ends up coming out in the US soon I’m gonna have to get an iPhone just for this!
