On the fifth day of Rabite Christmas the Seikens gave to me…
Five Rabite things!
Four Rabites sleeping,
three Rabite fans,
two Rabite mugs,
and a Rabite in the Mana Tree
Today we have a pillow, a Zippo lighter and mousepad from Legend of Mana, and a promotional ball pit ball and t-shirt (with other monsters on back) from the Trials of Mana remake.
Just a small note, here on the main page where it’s more visible.
Every week I update the Episodes and Gallery for Legend of Mana: The Teardrop Crystal. It seems they put new episode information out pretty early, so be warned the images/descriptions likely include spoilers!
I also included translations of Li’l Cactus’s diary entries for the episodes. I may tweak them here and there, as it’s pretty punishing to puzzle out precisely what the potted poet is purporting to pen.
Another small thing, I rearranged the site menu on the right side. Legend of Mana seemed to be large enough to support its own listing.

Over in the Legend of Mana section of the site, I started up a subsection for The Teardrop Crystal. I am unsure if I will keep it as a subsection or if it will grow to be its own section, but at the moment that is where it can be found.
Right now there are two pages in that section:
Episodes – Here you can find summaries and some images from the current episodes. For the summaries I just translated the official ones found on the anime website. Later on, I hope to have a subpage for each episode where I can go into details on my thoughts and analyses of scenes and characters while also talking about connections to the game.
Songs and Lyrics – I found the official Japanese lyrics for the OP of the anime, Tear of Will, on YouTube, but I couldn’t find any translations, so I went ahead and got an unofficial fan translation going. In addition to that, I got Sevon (webmaster of Polpota Harbor and Essence of SaGa) to transcribe and translate the ED, Song of Mana: The Teardrop Crystal. There were no official lyrics for this available, and you will find it has all new lyrics compared to the Song of Mana used in the game!

Over in the Legend of Mana Card Duel section of the site we have some new content going over the very basics of deckbuilding in the one and only Mana collectible card game. I hope to eventually add various sections discussing useful strategies, but for now this will have to do.
Head over to the Deckbuilding page to check it out.
In addition to that, I’ve also put together two sample decklists that people can play with:
The first deck was detailed in Making of Mana, published by Famitsu Bros. on July 29, 1999 (ISBN4-7561-3148-4). It’s a very basic deck, but it gets the job done. The second deck is one I put together myself, and I tried to keep it as similar to the first deck as I could in terms of power level and card selection while branching out into three different elements.
I had a chance to play the tcg with a buddy of mine over the winter holiday. It was really fun! The two decks seem pretty evenly matched and there are a lot of fun interactions. We both ended up winning one game, but we’ll have to run a tiebreaker next time we meet up.
On the deck pages linked above you can find a lot of details about each deck, including strategies to consider if you end up trying to play on your own. Don’t forget, I’ve got all the cards scanned in and translated, and the entire Rulebook is available as well!
Just for fun, I made some late 90s style deck box covers for these two decks. If you ever played with Pokémon cards back in the day, these should jog some memories. The names of the decks “Firestorm” and “Floodwater” come from spells you can cast in Legend of Mana. I thought they seemed pretty fitting given the elements involved in each deck! The names even fit what the decks aim to do; the Red deck wants to wipe out everything their opponent controls while the Blue deck wants to flood the field with Monsters.
In an update that is 13 years overdue (I scanned and cleaned these images in 2009), I have added all of the Secret of Mana Items and Equipment to the Gallery. These images are really great, and I love the amount of work that went into them for something you never see in game.
You can also head to the Items page or the Equipment page to check them out with context! It’s fun to see how the little sprites match up with the actual drawing.
It’s also fun(ny) to imagine the three heroes actually wearing some of these getups.
These images came from the official “Fundamental Knowledge Compilation” released by Square when the game came out. You can read about it and other guides over at the Secret of Mana: Redux Collectibles section.
Who knows, maybe in another 13 years I’ll finish cleaning up the Weapon scans.
