Rabite Wallpapers

July 15th, 2007 | Kassidy Kearey | Filed under Seikens

Following the theme of Sheexy’s recent antics with the Plushie Rabites, I thought it was about time to launch these. I’ve been sitting on them for a couple of weeks now.

Taking the design of the abstract Rabite wallpaper over on World of Mana’s official homepage, I decided to make one for each Rabite-family palette from Seiken Densetsu 3, a few custom colour schemes, and also a rather Warholian design (think Marilyn Monroe). More Rabites than you can throw a cat at (which, trust me, I’m tempted to do). More may become available in the future.

So head over to the Rabite Wallpaper page, pick your resolution, and add some Rabite goodness to your desktop (or someone else’s if they’ve been silly enough to leave their computer unlocked).

Note: For those using 1680×1050 screens, for now I’m afraid you’ll have to stretch the 1280×800 one, and those using 1280×800 who want to use the Mosaic will have to stick with the 1280×768 version and have white at top and bottom. Apologies, but can’t rain to the likings of all.

Things you can do with a Rabite…

July 11th, 2007 | Dr. Sheexy | Filed under Seikens, Videos, Whatever Wednesday

Ok, so today I figured I would show you some different things you can do with Rabites. Click the read more link to go watch a few of the little videos I made.
Next time I’ll go for a bigger film, I didn’t realize how small I was recording them in. At least this makes it easy for anyone on dial-up to watch, and also, being that I am on dial-up myself I won’t have a problem uploading them.
One of the benefits of having three Rabites is that I can keep two of them in mint condition and I can abuse the heck out of the third one.

A few updates

July 4th, 2007 | Deques | Filed under Seikens

A new poll! You now choose which kingdom in SD3/HoM universe is your favourite. I don’t know which is my favourite, so I don’t know which to choose. Besides a new poll, you now have access to older polls Seikens has featured. The link is just below the current poll.

I have added a list of all categories Seikens is posting to. You can find older updates ie Mana Music Monday, or old entries Sheexy wrote in Whatever Wednesday. You might find some information that can’t be found anywhere else in this site. Categories can be found at the bottom of the site.

Seikens Searching

July 4th, 2007 | Dr. Sheexy | Filed under Seikens

Ok, so today was my last day in Tokyo searching around Akihabara for Seiken Densetsu stuff. Things were rough, there weren’t any Rabites in sight… but nothing would stop me from searching… except I got hungry and had some Cantaloupe flavored icecream which is really really awesome! And also I bought some Godzilla, Shadow of the Colossus, Dragon Ball, etc. souvenirs for my friends.

About that time I entered a really old video game store. There it was! My favorite game!
Seiken Densetsu, the first one!
The box is pretty awesome, inside it has little monsters printed on the tabs, also I got another copy of the game with it. I didn’t find any other Mana related things in Akihabara, so I was kind of saddened. But then, there it was! And if you want to know what the super awesome thing was you’re going to have to keep reading, because I’m fast-forwarding this story to when I went to Brownie Brown.

Brownie Brown’s Mailbox.

That’s actually as far as I got. You have to make an appointment if you want to go up and talk to the people… I kinda should have looked into that more… I really should have looked into that more… But anyways, the people at Brownie Brown are very kind so they allowed my Heroes of Mana guidebook to go inside. And when my Heroes of Mana guide came back outside something amazing had happened!

The President of Brownie Brown and Seiken Densetsu dude, Shin’ichi Kameoka, had signed it and drawn a Rabite in it! Also, he gave me some Lil’ Cactus Amigo stickers! Neat!
And then after that I pretty much headed back to my hotel.

But wait, what was the other super awesome thing I found in Akihabara?
What could be in this box? (Um… I guess it says it right there…)
Why it’s the Sword of Mana in all of it’s solid silver glory!
Or I guess all of it’s 92.5% silverness due to it being Sterling and solid silver being kinda weak… but anyways, I got the Sword of Mana! Or rather, I got a midget Sword of Mana woo! Sorry for the terrible picture quality, this hotel room doesn’t have the best lighting. It is 8cm long (3.1 inches for us customary people, woo, go customary) and 2.7cm wide (1.1 inches). It is also pretty much going to be on my person until the end of time now.

Alright, I’m done showing off.

What about us?

June 27th, 2007 | Dr. Sheexy | Filed under Music, Seikens

Well well well… I leave the site to go to Japan and what happens? Kassidy and Deques start breaking stuff eh? I had big shoes to fill I guess.

Alrighty, straight from Japan I’ve got a little update for y’all, and this time it is all about us.
The about page got a super overhaul, check, check it out. You can read all about Kass, Dekky and me, see what is going on with the site, and see our pictures. I look particularly goofy in mine, so be sure to check it out and give me a hard time about it.

I’ve gotta go do Japanese stuff or something probably, see y’all around!

Also, here is a little bit late Mana Music Monday. The last one was pretty big, so y’all get a small one this time around.
Flight Bound for the Unknown — Secret of Mana

This one is a pretty good choice for now because at the moment a friend and I are just randomly running around Japan, flight bound for the unknown. Basically our host parents kicked us out and now we are hostel hopping.

Mana Music Monday Special Poll

June 18th, 2007 | Kassidy Kearey | Filed under Music, Seikens

It’s still Monday in some parts of the world, which means it’s that time of the week again, and we have another special. Thanks to Wai recently enabling polls, and Sheexy coming up with a stunning idea all the way from Japan, we will be holding a special poll this week to decide what the Most Annoying Track in Seiken Densetsu is. Granted, you have a few to choose from only, but you can always comment here with further suggestions.

Anyway, you can listen to the track below, and vote over on the right hand side of your screen. Your choices are:

– Rising Sun (Kenji Ito’s intro song that has been used in 4 Mana games without any significant change)
– Happenings of a Moonlit Night (Kikuta’s take on the Dwarven underground scene)
– Closed Garden (Choose your SD3 savegame quick, before it burns into your mind)
– Pastoral (Egg hunting never sounded so good in LoM)
– Longing (How long can the Children of Mana last in the village?)
– Tenacity (Stop staring at your Heroes of Mana Encyclopedia!)

Team power!

Gallery is down

June 14th, 2007 | Deques | Filed under Seikens

Ops, I broke it. Yes it is my time to break stuff and it is also this time I can’t fix it. I was looking in the gallery and saw it was only half functioning. So I tried to re-install it, since the administrations is also half functioning. But alas, it wasn’t possible. It just doesn’t want to be installed.

Right now the gallery isn’t online. I have no idea when it’s gonna be back again. I have to look for a new gallery script to use. Too bad, I really liked the one we used before I broke it.

MMMy oh my I’m late

June 13th, 2007 | Kassidy Kearey | Filed under Music, Remixes, Seiken Densetsu 3, Seikens

To all of those who were waiting for Mana Music Monday this week, I do apologize. Must be a summer cold.

But I do have something for you I think you’ll like. The track is Female Turbulence from Disc 2 of the Seiken Densetsu 3 soundtrack.

[MEDIA=5]

And if that wasn’t enough, we also have a remix of this track now available in the Remixes section called Lisolation, courtesy of ReactorZer0, so you can go check that out now too!

That was worth the wait, surely. 😉

Friends of Mana and Overviews

June 6th, 2007 | Kassidy Kearey | Filed under Children of Mana, Final Fantasy Adventure, Friends of Mana, Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3, Seikens, Sword of Mana

Today is a busy day for updates all round, so I shall detain you no longer.

First off, you can now click on the link for Friends of Mana over in the menu on your right because, that’s right, the Friends of Mana section is now open for business. While only currently bringing you a detailed overview of the game (which as far as I can tell is the most detailed one available to date in English), hopefully at some point we will be able to expand on some of the finer details of this game, though not necessarily as a high priority since, let’s face it, unless you’re in Japan you’re not going to play the game anyway.

Secondly, I decided to go through all the old games in the series and write-up an introductory overview page for them in the same manner that I had done for Dawn (not the review, that was done by Duran, and a great job too) and Children of Mana. So you can now find a bit of history and brief description of FFA, SoM, SD3, SwoM and CoM (revamped). Legend of Mana will also join the ranks at some point, need to work out a few things for that first (since right now that game is covered by qLoM).

And keep filling out those Polls that Wai has put in place! 😉
